Zaku II: the machine that makes practical look cool

Zaku has a different kind of strength from the RX-78-2. It looks practical, almost industrial, like a machine designed to be maintained in the field rather than displayed in a museum. The mono-eye, rounded armor and heavy legs give it a believable sense of purpose.

That is what I enjoy about building a Zaku. The kit does not rely on a clean heroic pose to be interesting. Even standing still, it suggests a story about use, repair and the person inside the machine. It is one of those designs that can look excellent with a simple finish because the shape is doing most of the work.
