RX-78-2 Gundam: the kit that started the language
The RX-78-2 is a great reminder that a simple design can become iconic through balance. Nothing feels unnecessary. The red, blue, yellow and white color blocking makes the machine readable from across a room, while the proportions still leave enough mechanical detail to reward a close look.
That balance is what makes building an RX-78 kit satisfying. It feels like the visual starting point for so many designs that came after it, but it does not feel boring. The familiar shield, beam saber and rifle give the build a clear identity without needing an overloaded silhouette.
A personal note on the balance and clarity that made the original Gundam design last.
