Model Kits
Why a DeLorean model kit would be a perfect side project
A DeLorean model kit has the same appeal as a good interface: the outside is immediately recognizable, but the details reward patience. The gull-wing doors, brushed metal body and time-machine hardware give the builder plenty of small decisions to care about.
I like model kits because they slow down the part of my brain that is always trying to optimize everything. A DeLorean build would be a nice change of pace from robots: fewer armor panels, more cables and trim, and a machine whose personality comes from a real-world object transformed by fiction. It would also look excellent beside a shelf of Gundams.
A future build idea, and an excuse to let science fiction and classic car design share a shelf.
